Ministry Application Form
by Rob Lamont Christian Youth Resources, Australia
The aim of this form is to let you think through the whole area of ministry. Being called to minister for God is a high calling and should be undertaken with prayer. Although a form is in many ways very impersonal the main aim is to let you work through effectively what is needed for ministry.

Biblically

We are committed-

    1.  To Scripture being our final authority on all matters of faith.  (2 Timothy 3:16)
    2.  To the teachings of the Church       (as reflected in the Statement of belief)
    3.  To all Christians being gifted by God for ministry.    (Ephesians 4:11)
    4.  The chief concern of Christians is to glorify and honour Christ through a holy life and to have a deep concern for the lost.      (1 Corinthians 2:2)

Spiritually

    1.  Our aim is to have unity and care for one another.    (Romans 12:9-10)
    2.  To encourage personal Christian growth.                 (Romans 12:11)
    3.  Our leaders are to be examples of Christ.                (John 13:15-16)
    4.  That we will seek to build one another up.               (Colossians 1:28)

What do I need to do before I consider a ministry?
    1.  It is expected that before anyone can lead in any ministry that they will have done or will do the training necessary for that ministry.

    2. That before someone commits themselves to a ministry that they have read its job description and  the Philosophy Of Ministry" document and are willing to fulfill its requirements or choose a different ministry.       (Luke 14:28-35)

    2.  Good Bible knowledge and regular personal quiet times.  (Titus 2:1)
    3.  Seeking personal holiness in your life. (Some specific areas that this includes are not dating non Christians, not drinking
alcohol to excess, not using impure language, seeking God's will in your life.  (2 Timothy 1:9, 2:22, 2:15)
    4.  Committed to the ministry and philosophy of the Church.
    5.  Committed to coming weekly to worship at Church.          ( Hebrews 10:24-25)
    6.  Will be a committed and regular member of a small group ministry and accountable to that group.  (2 Timothy 2:4)
    7.  Willing to be equipped through training.                             (Ephesians 4:11ff.)
    8.  A desire to serve Christ through ministry and a passion to see God's Kingdom grow.  (1 Peter 5:3)
    9. Willing to obey your co-ordinator and leaders who are above you, especially the Church staff. (Heb. 13:17, Titus 3:1)
   10. When taking on a ministry it will be for a year (renewable) and you will need to give 6 to 8 weeks notice if you want to
pull out to your key leader and to the Minister.
    11. Whilst being a leader you will not date any of the members of that group that you are working with. (1 Corinthians 6:12)
    12. Regular, trustworthy and reliable.  (Titus 2:6)
    13. That people will not take on a ministry that they cannot be fully committed to doing.
    14. Preferably one ministry per person. If a person wants to do more then take on a larger ministry or put more time into
your current ministry. If a second ministry is desired it may be in the area of service e.g.. music, drama etc.
    15.  That leaders are to minister to the same gender wherever possible. Bible study leaders need to lead groups of the same
sex or have an opposite sex co-leader. (Titus 2:6-8)
